Spiritual Disciplines Part 7 - Submission
A Call To Action

Leston Blackburn, Nov 4th

Vernon Douglas, Nov 11th

In Ephesians 5, Paul speaks about imitating the example of Christ as we walk in love, remembering how Christ surrendered Himself, submitting to the will of the Father, even to the point of being a fragrant offering and sacrifice for us. Paul then addresses several other points before concluding that just as Jesus modelled love through submission, so we too should submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. In this message, we focus on the spiritual discipline of submission; what it is, what it is not, and how it benefits us.
In this sermon, Vernon reflects on the Centenary of Armistice Day, remembering the legacy of those who died for King and country and the sacrifice of so many for the sake of our freedom. He also draws a parallel with the love of Jesus who laid down His life as a ransom for us, showing this to be the greatest expression of love, and His call to action to lay down our lives in service of and to one another.
Spiritual Disciplines Part 8 - Service

Leston Blackburn, Nov 25th

The topic we will address today is one which Jesus not only taught, but one He so clearly and so powerfully modelled. In the process, He never merely tweaked the widely held view of true authority; rather, He literally obliterated it. As the King of the greatest kingdom that has been or ever will be, Jesus brought a radically unique message about the value of service in the Kingdom of God, and then set about modelling a servant-heart like no other. So let us take a moment to consider the Spiritual Discipline of Service.
