The Gospel: God's Power to Save From, For and To
The Pre-Eminence of Christ:  What it is & Why it Matters

Leston Blackburn, March 5th

Leston Blackburn, March 12th

In Colossians 1:15-23, Paul reminds us about the pre-eminence of Christ. He points out how Christ is pre-eminent over creation, over the church and even over our being reconciled to Father God. He reveals how this realirty was reflected in his own ministry and even in his prayer life as he prayed for the believers at Ephesus. But what exactly is the pre-eminence of Christ? Why does it matter and what does it mean for us?
Following on from the Child Dedication, Leston explored how Paul refers to the good news of the Gospel as God’s power to save all who believe. We reflect on the fact that is has the unique power to save us from something, for something and to something, and that we were saved, are being saved and will be saved.
Jesus as the I AM
Our Sinless Substitute

Leston Blackburn, March 26th

Mathew Clark, March 19th

Leston takes a look at John 6:35-43, exploring the first of seven 'I AM' sayings of Jesus in the Gospel of John. He reflects on the very special phrase John uses in the Greek in each of the I Am sayings of Jesus before discussing the importance of understanding the deity of Christ and the life-transforming impact this has on our lives as we learn to live under His sovereign Lordship.
As we lead up to Easter, Mathew takes a moment to reflect on the vicarious ministry of Jesus and what this means for us. He considers how the Father placed our sin on Jesus as our sinless substitute. As we reflect on what it cost, we get a better understanding of the depth of our Father's love for us and the heart of Christ our Saviour toward us.
